Timothy Ferguson

Musical Director

Timothy Ferguson is in his third year studying Music at The University of York. Born in Manchester, he studied with Ewa StrusiÅ„ska at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music. Since his first year, Timothy has been actively involved with the direction of many ensembles: Weber’s Der Freischütz (2012) and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (2013) for the University Opera Society; Chimera Ensemble; The University Concert Orchestra; The University Choir (in rehearsal); The University Chamber Orchestra; and Albarosa, his own chamber choir.

Clare is a first study soprano in her second year, studying Music at The University of York. Born in Surrey, she  completed her grades in Singing and Piano  and went on to achieve a DipABRSM Diploma in singing when she was 18.; she has particularly enjoyed performing solos at Guildford's Cathedral (2005/7/11), festivals and York's Chimera Ensemble (2014). As well as performance, Clare thoroughly enjoys Production work, with her more recent experiences include Funding Coordinator for York's Spring Festival of New Music 2014, Stage Manager for Fusion 2013/14, Head of Fundraising for Don Giovanni 2014 and Fundraiser for Orpheus in the Underworld 2013. 

Jessica Jane Hutchinson

With experience in the styles of Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Tap Dance, Rebecca will be working with both the cast and a specially selected dance troupe to combine the music and drama of the production in choreographed dance sequences. Born in Essex, Rebecca is in her first year of studying music at the University of York where whilst being involved in musical pursuits, she has also managed to continue her love of dance, competing and winning with the University's Tap Dance Competition Team in Durham. She has also been involved with the University of York's Fusion Dance showcase this year.

Martha is currently a first year History student at the University of York. An avid singer and actor from a young age, she has been in church choirs since the age of seven and studied classical singing from age twelve, later becoming Head Chorister of Chelmsford Cathedral Girls' Choir. She has held ensemble roles in the University's production of Mozart's 'Don Giovanni' (2014) and Chelmsford Cathedral's production of Britten's opera 'The Golden Vanity' (2013). She is currently a member of the chorus and production team and is looking forward to the challenges Cendrillon will bring both behind the scenes and on stage.

Jenny is a second year Film and Television production student. But in her spare time she has worked on costumes on a variety of productions from plays and short films to operas and operettas. This is the second production of Cinderella she has worked on this year, as she did costumes for Pantsoc’s high school reinterpretation of Cinderella in January. But she looks forward to translating the fairy-tale again to the 1940s. with Cendrillon.

Nicki immersed herself in music from an early age, which naturally progressed into her developing a love for singing. Nicki moved from Dubai to York in September and is currently a first year music student at the University of York. Nicki is currently in the production team of Cendrillon as well as being a member of the chorus. Previously Nicki appeared as a chorus member for the Opera Society's production of Don Giovanni earlier this year. Nicki is looking forward to being a part of both Cast and Production team for Cendrillon and hopes to further her involvement within in the society.

Born in Essex, Olly is a second year Music student at the University of York and has always enjoyed being involved with musical productions, directing and producing an original show based on the story of Pandora's box in 2011. Olly also co-wrote and musically directed a show at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2012. At university, he has designed and constructed set for Opera Society's recent production of Don Giovanni and the Drama Barn production Evolve. Olly will be working with Emma and Roma to create the visual atmosphere for Cendrillon.

Roma Brown is a third year English Literature student at the University of York. She will be designing and operating the lighting for Cendrillon. Previously a Technical Manager for the university’s Drama Society, she has lit multiple student productions. These include Noel Coward’s Hay Fever (2013), Joe DiPietro’s I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (2013), and David Mamet’s Oleanna (2014). This January, Roma designed and operated lighting for Mozart’s Don Giovanni in the Grand Opera House of York, and looks forward to working there again. Next autumn, Roma will be lighting an international production of Don Giovanni, which will be touring Luxembourg.

Jessica is studying a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, Film and Television: Writing, Directing and Performance at the University of York. She is originally from Durham, where she trained as an actor with particular focus upon Stanislavski's System. She has been vocally trained, specialising in Jazz, Swing and Big Band. Her main passion lies within Absurdist scriptwriting and research dramaturgy, thus her role as assistant director is new and exciting ground.

Ryan is currently in his first year of studying Music at the University of York. He is the Musical Director of Stagedoor Academy and lead the Company with Les Misérables School Edition in April 2014 in York having had recent success with West Side Story in 2013. Originally from Leeds, he has studied at Leeds College of Music and has played with the City of Leeds Youth Opera in their productions of La Traviata and The Poisoned Kiss. Ryan played in the orchestra for the University Opera Society's last production of Don Giovanni and is excited to join the production team for Cendrillon and expand his knowledge of opera.

Emma is currently studying Writing, Directing & Performance at the University Of York. Growing up in Portsmouth, she trained as an actor, performing two successful stints at the Edinburgh fringe, (working with The Idiots Of Ants, Five One Productions and C theatre) doing up to four shows a day. She also organised and hosted her own fringe event: Improvaganza and directed a local production of 'The Winter's Tale' at The New Theatre Royal. Emma also has a keen interest in classical music, singing from a young age and later becoming Head Chorister of Portsmouth Cathedral Cantate Choir.
